Friction Forecast #2: Weekly Outfit Planning for Non–Outfit Planners (Again!)

aka how I set myself up for a stylish week without deciding what to wear every day

Welcome back to Friction Forecast, where we prep for the week ahead without… actually planning outfits.

If you're new here, this is my (chaotic neutral) approach to weekly outfit planning: the Friction Formula. I don’t believe in actual planned out schedules or full outfit plans. I also don’t believe in standing in front of your closet on a Wednesday morning, deeply regretting your entire life’s wardrobe choices. This method is the bridge.

Instead of planning exact outfits, I pull a few pieces I want to wear (especially the ones that are new or haven’t seen sunlight in a while) and build my week around them. It’s structured enough that I avoid the morning panic, but loose enough that I still get to dress based on how I feel that day.

In this week’s video, you’ll see how I:

  • Pick a couple of “anchors” for the week. Sometimes it is a mood, sometimes a silhoutte, this time it was a category (skirts)

  • Choose 1–2 underused items to re-integrate into circulation (like the yellow jacket)

  • Quickly integrate new items (like the terry skirt)

  • Stack my styling “levers” so I can flex the same pieces for totally different vibes

  • Keep things easy to adapt if weather, meetings, or moods shift midweek (because they always do)

If you watched last week’s Friction Forecast and tried it—yay! If this is your first one, welcome. There is no wrong way to do any of it Try it out, tweak it, ignore half of it (or all of it if you’re an outfit planner). Whatever works.

Here are some of the things I packed. Is this helpful or terrifying? You tell me.

All the tops

And the bottoms

The community dye place I mentioned in the video is Suay. You can drop off your clothing to be dyed if you are in LA or mail them in. Fair warning, it takes them a good 4-6 weeks to return your clothes back to you.

Thank you to everyone who tuned into my live video!
