You are SOOO good at mixing and matching and dramatically changing the vibe of a piece. Clearly you've curated an amazing collection of both accessories and pieces!!! I loved everything you showed, especially those incredible fringe earrings.
Omg thank you, Xue. Means so much coming from you. I really, really appreciate it. Yes, I love those earrings too. Such a great gift and one I have worn multiple times over the years.
Loved this - I've never thought of the actual graphic shapes of my clothing and the possibilities they express. You've opened up a whole new train of thought for me in terms of why and how things work together. Looking forward to the next installment!
plus...now I suddenly want the Artemis dress? The Tibi vortex is real!
Thanks for the Live, I enjoyed it! It was interesting to hear you talk about reinforcing style decisions and making it clear that they are intentional by repeating them. Like making the point that you mean to be playful by adding a playful earring to an outfit where you layered playful shapes. I’m wondering how you think this relates to your idea of creating tension or friction, which I assume means having less consistency across pieces.
I LOVE this question. It might be more of a post than a note but let me try. SO, it is good to show clarity of INTENTION via styling. But the elements itself being doubled up might take away the friction. For example, I used a big bow yellow earring to show that I was doing 'capital F fashion', and the styling wasn't accidental. But at the same time, if I did bow, bow, bow everywhere (like earring, shoe, a bow belt) it would become too matchy-matchy. In this video even I talk about why I used a simple ballerina vs. the t-strap, that was to not repeat the literal 'lines' shape everywhere.
Bottomline: Repetition in thought process but not with the exact same element. Another example of where I did this in the video is since I had a necktie on, I put on a sock. Necktie = formal, sock = dressy. The dress hem being playful was already bringing in friction. So you push the styling enough so it looks intentional, but not so much that it looks like you set out to literally match elements/vibe.
Omg this was incredible!! You are so creative and I am so inspired! I used to watch more Tibi Style Sessions and this was even better because it’s your real closet! So very good.
Thank you thank you sorry def wasn’t meaning to ask you to watch the whole thing. Just wanted to let you know you educated me on button ups vs button down ❤️❤️
I love this format and visually seeing the thing you’re explaining. Like with the T-strap shoes, I initially was like, they look okay. But then when you put on the other shoe, the difference became really clear. Also your explanation on what to look for with the graphic tees - this is a huge gap I have because I can never find something that feels right. Will take your tips and look for something bold. (Only catching up now because of time zones).
Ahh this is so great to hear. thank you! That’s exactly why I wanted to do it live. Sometimes it’s hard to describe why something feels off, but seeing the swap makes it click. And yes, graphic tees can be tricky! It took me a while to figure out what actually feels intentional vs just there. Bold and deliberate is such a good filter to use. Can’t wait to see what you find! And no worries at all on the timing. so glad you’re watching! ❤️
Watching it is segments , so far I’m 20 min in and loving everything about this. Shoe swap for the different moods is so relatable. I find that most times I dress up I start with the shoe and that will usually set the tone. Anyway.. going to make me a cuppa and keep watching 😉 thank you for the informative vid 🙏🏼
Orit! I totally relate. Shoes are often the first thing I decide on too. They really do set the whole mood for the outfit. I’m so glad that part resonated. And thank you for watching in segments, that actually makes me feel better about the length 😅 Hope the cuppa was good and thanks again for spending time with the video. Means a lot.
You were totally right! The Tibi size chart must be totally off. The 10 fit with plenty of room and I think I might even try the 8. Thanks for the info!
You’re so real to show us how to use the bathroom in this piece—!
😂😂 it’s a real concern!
Er... you just convinced me to buy this dress!!!

Am going to save and watch on repeat. THANK YOU!

Watching this now since I missed the live (my pup was at the emergency vet but all is well now). Sipping my matcha and loving your creativity!!
Oh no! The worst when they aren’t well. I’m sipping on matcha also! Thanks for watching.
Cheers! 🍵

Oh yay thanks for catching that. That’s where I usually start thinking about items. That and color. So helpful in making outfits.
And I hear you. Artemis is amazing!

That makes sense! Would love to see a full post as well!
So cool!! It took a normal every day dress and turned it into a very chic outfit
Thank you!
Cool

Also 😳 I think I want that Tibi dress now!

This is super interesting and informative! I love so much how you play with different shapes, textures and frictions!
Thank you so much!
WOAH!!! okay you have scratched something in my brain. This is so good ma’ammm
Yay! THANK YOU for making me buy this (like you had to really twist my arm!)

I also noticed your graphic tees tend towards being oversized. Do you think that also helps the intentionality?
Yes, either oversized or pretty fitted. I just don't like anything that looks not intentional either way.
Okay I think I found one! Will share once it arrives!

Really? That changes everything! I actually take me tibi slip dresses in a 10. Maybe I will give it a shot!]
Yes! Try it out in that case. Good luck and lmk how it works out.

Yay so glad! ❤️
Endless possibilities. Very inspirational.
Yes! Thanks for watching
@Kelly Williams please catch the shoutout in this clip 😂 you’ve taught us something (many things)
You're creativity is inspiring - I think my favourite was layering with the Artemis slip dress (which I now deeply regret not getting)
