Sooo interesting! I feel the same way, I don’t like planning outfits I go more about how I feel, but having a baseline to work with is a great idea! 👏😍
I am so happy to hear it resonates! Yes, something like that becomes that midpoint between having some narrowed down options and exact outfits being planned.
Okay so I think I could watch you put together a million outfits all day 😅 Thanks for sharing your system. So interesting that you use a similar approach as when you travel! The two base outfits is such a great system. Watching you do that has finally made me understand that I need to add more levers to my toolbox. Also can’t wait for the series of posts on lines!
Okay this made me smile SO big, thank you!! Yes, my travel method and weekly method are basically the same bones: a couple strong base looks to pull out anchoring items, then I build range with tension and levers.
And yes to more levers! I feel like that’s the real unlock once you know what knobs you can twist (lines, fabric, friction), getting dressed feels like play again. Can’t wait to share the line series soon, I’ve been nerding out hard. Scheduled for Tuesday morning.
Ok! Watched till the end and enjoyed the creative process as usual. Thx I think I mentioned before, trying to be more fluid as rn I plan my outfits to the T. (Travel, work etc) and it’s constructive and limiting at times.. what I did do is opened my virtual cupboard and tried to identify ‘vibes’ . Such a different way of thinking for me ha ha
Yay! I love playing with new ways of thinking. Because if it works, it works. If it doesn’t work you learn something about yourself and can apply the lesson to your usual way of thinking. Thank you!
Your sense of color and style is chef's kiss! Very helpful and endlessly interesting! Applying your graphic design skills and language to the lines of clothing is opening my eyes to a new world of seeing. I feel a total refresh in how I view my wardrobe. Thanks, Asta 🌈
I wasn’t able to watch this whole thing but I was ENTHRALLED by what I did watch. The thought process and attention to detail left me so inspired. I actually just checked my Indyx usage stats to see what I can wear more of!
That makes me so happy to hear! Honestly, the fact that it made you open Indyx and check your stats is the ultimate win. That’s the whole goal. Getting more intentional without sucking the fun out of it. Hope you uncover some forgotten gems in there! Thank you so much.
It really is interesting to think about how different people approach planning to dress… I guess I never thought about it much before. I definitely lean more towards a loose, vibe-based approach but maybe with more base outfits locked and loaded (and I definitely haven’t made an art of tension like you have!).
Editing to add: I’m totally going to try a week of dresses, maybe starting tomorrow. Mine have ballooned to 6 and like you, I don’t reach for them over separates often.
Ooh I love this reflection so much and I think a “loose, vibe-based approach with base outfits locked and loaded” is a good approach. It sounds like you’ve built a system that’s flexible but dependable, and that’s honestly the dream.
Excited to hear you’re trying a week of dresses! I always think I want to wear mine, but I instinctively reach for separates unless I intentionally set the tone. Let me know how it goes. Or better still, post!
So curious how much time you take to allow your creativity each morning when you go to get dressed 💜 I'm sure it varies by day--but I almost never feel like there's enough time in the morning, so the thought of being creative in the morning stresses me out a bit! But I remain curious since I'm not wedded to hardcore planning in advance either (i.e., I really have no current preferred system whatsoever!).
From getting out of bed to running out the door it takes me 30-45 minutes (shower included) to get ready in the morning. 30 min if I have a rack pulled out like this week. 45 otherwise. There was one time recently I overthought socks and the time stretched to more like 60 minutes.
I do think one gets faster with time. And the fact that my closet is organized makes it easier even if I don't do this exercise. I hear you, not easy to carve out time in the mornings. It's a big privilege that I am able to allow myself this time and practice.
And now that I have watched the recording to the end I may actually “plan” my outfits for next week following your cues, Asta. 🥳 just to shake things up a bit

Also you have some amazing pieces! Looking forward to seeing more of your looks and colour combinations 🥰
Thank you! I feel very fortunate to have a bunch of hard to find ‘cult favorites’.

Yay I'll prolly be first in line to digest and comment! 🫣 I love the way you break things down!
Published early! Live now.

Technically wore a dress today and plan to wear one tomorrow, so if I’m ever going to do a week of them, now might be my best chance!
You can do it!!

Omg I would love to see that!! Please do that so fun.
